If you'd like to vote for her (please please please!!), click the pic below then press 'like'. Thanks a lot! I hope you all had a great Halloween!

You can also click (here) to see the details of how she made her costume! Hope you enjoy!

Not only am I new to the group but I'm also new to cosplaying. I was really happy to find this group and hope to cosplay more and work on my sewing skillz. I really adore making things and had I had more friends into anime ect I probably would have started doing this way way sooner. Ah well, better late than never!

I bet this is going to be an adventure!

Also- If anyone has any good wig styling tips I would really appreciate it. I'm going to style a short wig for a Sebastian cosplay for Black Butler. I guess it's more of a matter of anything I shouldn't do or use. This is also be my first time dressing as a dude. Heh.

In case anyone is interested the cosplay is for a local event, NYC! (I actually work for the shop hosting it). It's a screening event and there's a contest for anyone in the area interested in winning free stuff from funimation! Facebook Event Page.

Ok as promised I did take out my Halloween Jem costume that I did back in 2006 and snapped some pics for you all. ;0) Sorry about the wrinkles though. I haven't worn it again since 2006. Also I didn't have a sewing machine at the time that I decided to make this so ummm yeah sorry for any goof ups ya might see.

To be safe I'll put the pics behind a cut for you.

I must say I was extremely thrilled to find a cosplaying group here that wasn't filled with teens! Not that I mind and I totally encourage craftyness to all no matter what age, it's just nice to be able to find people more around my own age. ;0)

Ok so ummm intro. My name is Amy. *waves* I'm 33 and I'm an artist here in the Boston, MA area. I love to dress up at the conventions I attend and LOVE cosplayers! The talent in creating all those costumes amazes me! When I first started to attend conventions, seeing all the great costumes made me miss sewing and creating so I recently started creating costumes, which you can see some being worked on over in my livejournal. Feel free to add me! I love meeting new people and would totally love any advice as well. I'm not all that great at sewing but I try. I did sew a bit when I was younger but artwork took over mostly. ;0)

Let's see what else, asides from doing my own artwork, I also model for other artists. And as for costuming, I don't really do costuming for other people (other than my hubby) as I'm rather rusty at my sewing since it has been quite some years since I did any sewing, EEP! but I am working on several right now and trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm slowly remembering it.

Also, I'm totally LOVING the Jem cosplay that I'm seeing on here! I'M A HUGE JEM FAN! ;0) I did create a Jem costume back in, I think it was, 2006. I made the Halloween Jem costume from the episode Trick or Techrat (is that sad that I know that?! LOL) and all by hand too, cause I didn't have a sewing machine at the time. I do hope to make more Jem ones in the future but juggling artwork and sewing is a bit tough. Right now I only do sewing on weekends, which I totally look forward to!

Ok so yeah now I'm rambling, lol sorry about that. But yeah HI!!!

Anyone familiar with this wig?

Hello, all. I'm in need of a center-part pigtail wig without heavy bangs for a future costume. I was wondering if anyone out there might own or have seen this one in person?

Image below cutCollapse )

It's a Dutch Girl / Heidi wig by Lacey Costume wigs.

What I'm wondering is if the skin part goes all the way to the nape, and what it looks like from the side. I tried asking customer service at the website I hope to buy from but they didn't respond. Since they don't accept returns I'm very reluctant to just buy it without knowing more about it. Any help is appreciated! :)
